Taylor Swift and her cat, a Scottish fold named Olivia Benson, made a surprise appearance alongside Mariska Hargitay, who plays Olivia Benson on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, during the Emmys. The bit played off Hargitay’s hosting duties at the awards show.
In the bit, Hargitay as Benson storms into the SVU office and tells the staff that the brass just absolutely needs to know if Swift would be at the Emmys. Because Swifties think everything is a clue, she whips out a “crime board” and tries to connect the dots, like the number of Emmy nominations Abbott Elementary and DTF St. Louis got (13, Swift’s lucky number), and how St. Louis is in Missouri, which is also where Kansas City is, and that’s where Travis Kelce plays. It’s a lot to track, but it all led to Swift’s literally head-turning cameo.

“Hey guys, this isn’t adding up,” Swift, in a grey power suit, tells the room. “And who asked you, rookie?” Ice-T retorts. “Our perp has a clear M.O. A lot of this doesn’t fit the pattern, and I don’t think everything is a clue.” Benson says, “It is to the Swifties.”
Then, Swift loosed a string of disparate words that may or may not be real clues: “saccharide, Aries, from the vineyard, north or south.” (If you can figure it out, feel free to tell us.)

But then the Law & Order version of Swift reasoned that the real Swift most likely would be at home with her cats named after TV characters, one named after Benson. “Wait, I’m Olivia Benson,” Hargitay says, while standing next to Swift who is holding the cat.
She connects it to the Chiefs having a game that night, so Swift wouldn’t be there. “Well, if she’s not there, I’m not watching,” Ice-T says.
“Maybe she’s going to do one of those cool, pre-taped sketch things to support the host,” Swift says.
The bit ended with the Law & Order bumper music and Swift and Hargitay mugging cheek to cheek, and Swift confirming she wouldn’t be performing during the awards show (even though The Eras Tour was up for five Emmys.)
