Acclaimed Brisbane artist Jack Bratt has shared his first new song of the year, continuing his impressive solo career by way of new single “Body Language”.
Having had a soft release via his triple j Unearthed page earlier this month, “Body Language” has spent much of the last few weeks gaining traction by way of airplay on triple j, Unearthed, and even Coles supermarket radio. However, following its official premiere yesterday “Body Language” is formally released out into the world today, serving as a mesmerising step forward for the artist.
With years under his belt playing in bands around the country (including Golden Age Of Ballooning) and sharing the stage with some veritable icons, the last year has seen Bratt sharing a number of solo songs to continued and increasing acclaim.
Having entered 2020 as the well-deserved winner of the 2019 Grant McLennan Fellowship, this last year originally set to look a lot different for Bratt. However, with plans put on hold, he swiftly set his sights on the studio, with singles such as ‘Spades’, ‘The Outsider’, and ‘Will You Ever’ arriving since.
However, new single “Body Language” is something of a sonic step forward for Bratt, with the more straightforward rock sounds of his earlier singles being replaced by a fuller, lusher pop-rock sound which feels not only nostalgic in all the right ways, but innovative and forward-thinking as ever.
Featuring production and mixing talents from Joel Myles with Matt Bartlem on mastering, “Body Language” showcases another side of Bratt’s style and artistry, and further exemplifies the musical versatility that has made him a staple of the Brisbane music scene over the years.
With the single officially released into the world today, Bratt has also been teasing the forthcoming release of an accompanying music video for the track. No word yet as to when it released, but stay tuned for its impending arrival.
