Created In Partnership With Mentos
As a DJ, rapper, producer and promoter, Sollyy has become one of the driving forces behind Western Sydney’s new wave of hip-hop. Across his own music, his party series Hotter Out West and his work championing emerging artists, the multi-hyphenate is helping shape the sound of a new generation.
These accomplishments are why Sollyy has been selected as one of eight artists for the Mentos Fresh Sounds Class of ’26, curated by Rolling Stone AU/NZ. The new annual platform celebrates Australia and New Zealand’s most exciting emerging talent and supports them editorially across 12 months.
Hand-selected by the publication’s editors, these artists represent the future of local music thanks to their boundary-pushing work. For Sollyy, being part of the inaugural Mentos Fresh Sounds Class of ’26, curated by Rolling Stone AU/NZ is recognition of the years spent grafting for both his own career and the community and scene he emerged from.
“I feel affirmed to be recognised for the work I’ve put in. I’m also honoured to share some good company. Shoutout VV Pete and Elijah Yo,” Sollyy told us in an exclusive interview for the series. As part of his Mentos Fresh Sounds Class of ’26 spotlight, Sollyy also performed his energetic tracks “FAIR DINKUM” and “CANT COP DIS” for Rolling Stone AU/NZ’s In My Room. Watch the full session below.
The track, which features Breakfast Road, Church, and Zion Garcia, is currently gaining well-deserved traction on local radio stations and streaming platforms and is a shining example of the talent coming out of the Western Sydney suburbs.
Sollyy’s collaborations with fellow local artists have grown into the sell-out Sydney party series, Hotter Out West, and his work earned him a Generations Fellowship from Powerhouse in Sydney. Blending R&B samples, blog-rap influences, and tongue-in-cheek lyricism, Sollyy has carved out a sound and place in the industry that blends club beats with old-school samples.
