Acclaimed singer-songwriter Gordi will perform a free pop-up gig in Melbourne tomorrow as part of the Victorian Government’s On The Road Again initiative.
From the middle of February until the March long weekend, hundreds of Victoria musicians have brought live music to the streets of Melbourne as part of the On The Road Again initiative in partnership with the City of Melbourne.
“We’re delighted to be partnering with the Victorian Government to bring the buzz to Melbourne, showcasing our city’s spectacular live music scene with surprise gigs by some of our best and brightest performers,” Melbourne Lord Mayor Sally Capp shared.
The program started with the likes of Alice Skye, Kaiit, Hayley Mary, and Fergus James surprising passers by with their performances, with Gordi set to be the latest performer. On Friday, March 4th at 5pm, she’ll play a set from the GPO Steps in Bourke Street Mall.
The singer’s last album, Our Two Skins, came out in June 2020. It was nominated for Best Adult Contemporary Album at the 2020 ARIA Music Awards. At the 2021 AIR Awards, the album won Best Independent Pop Album or EP. Our Two Skins peaked at number 18 on the ARIA Album Chart.
Gordi is also one of the nominees in the second annual Sailor Jerry Rolling Stone Australia Awards. The nominations for this year’s edition were revealed last month, with some huge names vying for top honours.
In the Readers’ Choice Award category, Gordi will compete with CXLOE, Holy Holy, Jimmy Barnes, Keith Urban, Paul Kelly, RÜFÜS DU SOL, and Vika & Linda. The winner will be chosen by the magazine’s readers and subscribers.
The Sailor Jerry Rolling Stone Australia Awards 2022 will be held on Wednesday, March 30th, at The Argyle in Sydney.
