Have two left feet? Avoid dancing like it’s a disease? Flamingo Pier have just the thing for you.
The party-starting Kiwi collective have dropped their new single, “Remedy”, an indie-disco cut that’s relentlessly groovy enough to get even the worst of dancers moving their feet. “Oh, come alive!” as Flamingo Pier repeatedly demand in the song.
Opening with a Todd Terje-ian squiggle, “Remedy” explodes into life, winking and teasing at you until you’re finally lured to the dancefloor. It’s almost dangerously funky, and a vibrant Hammond organ in the chorus never goes amiss.
“We wanted a dancefloor-friendly loop that keeps people interested, with sweeping chords to really elevate the energy,” the group’s Luke Walker explains.
“Remedy” will feature on Flamingo Pier’s forthcoming EP, Beneath the Neon, set for release in September. Following its release digitally on the first of the month, the EP will then be given a worldwide vinyl release on September 8th via renowned New York-based dance label Razor-N-Tape.
Beneath the Neon will also feature previous single “How 2 Feel”, an ice-cool club anthem that contrasts nicely with the upbeat fun of “Remedy”.
Flamingo Pier will be starting parties around New Zealand on a national tour this October, stopping in Wellington, Napier, Christchurch, Queenstown, Auckland, and New Plymouth. Note the the Napier and Queenstown shows are DJ sets only. The group are currently on a worldwide release tour, hosting parties in Berlin, Leeds, London, New York, and Mexico City.
Flamingo Pier’s “Remedy” is out now. Beneath the Neon EP is out September 1st.
