Auckland is set to be transformed over the next few weeks by Elemental Nights, a midwinter concert series featuring some incredible local and international acts.
Some of the city’s most iconic venues will play host to temporary works of art and live music, including the stunning setting of Mount Albert War Memorial Hall, a modernist building rarely used for live shows.
English post-punk powerhouse IDLES kick things off this Friday, July 21st at Spark Arena, returning to New Zealand less than a year after their impressive performance at Auckland Town Hall.
“You have some of the best people in the world in terms of crowds, we always have a beautiful welcome, good venues,” frontman Joe Talbot told Rolling Stone AU/NZ ahead of Elemental Nights.
The following Thursday, Swedish singer-songwriter Tove Lo will headline Auckland Town Hall, supported by Rolling Stone AU/NZ favourite MAY-A.
On Friday, July 28th, Kiwi musical royalty Bic Runga will perform at Auckland Town Hall, and English hip hop star Loyle Carner will take to the stage at the same venue on Saturday, July 29th.
In the first week of August, it’s the turn of Fazerdaze who’ll be performing at the aforementioned Mount Albert War Memorial Hall (see full details below).
Some Elemental Nights shows are now sold out, but organisers are giving away three double passes to a show of the winners’ choice. Simply follow Elemental Nights and Live Nation Aotearoa on Instagram, comment on the post which show you’d like to attend and tag a friend who you’d take with you. The giveaway is open until Wednesday, July 19th at 12pm local time.
