Angus Stone’s DOPE LEMON project is back with another record, with Rose Pink Cadillac set to arrive on November 12th.
His third record as DOPE LEMON, Rose Pink Cadillac is set to feature the previously-released singles, including “Kids Fallin’ in Love”, the Winston Surfshirt-featuring “Every Day Is a Holiday“, and the title track, “Rose Pink Cadillac”.
The album itself is split into two, with the first half representing the “daytime DOPE LEMON experience”, while the latter half takes a darker turn into “the nighttime world of the lemon”, with the vinyl edition being pressed onto two separate picture discs.
“This new DOPE LEMON record Rose Pink Cadillac has been an epic frontier to have embarked on,” stone explains of the album. “The making of this creation took months of many tireless long nights… plus many bottles of delicious whiskey and treats.
“Each time the writing of a new album takes a new chapter out of my life and freezes it in time. The days and months poured into making this record disappear in the blink of an eye, it’s a mix of hard work and pure joy.”
In keeping with the theme of the record, DOPE LEMON has also initiated a rather impressive giveaway, with all pre-orders of the new album made through his website going in the draw to win, as Stone himself puts it; “one of the most amazing cars I’ve ever seen”.
“We purchased a beautifully restored pristine rose pink 1960 Cadillac Fleetwood to give away to one lucky lil lemon in Australia,” he explained in a statement alongside the record’s announcement.
News of the new DOPE LEMON album comes just weeks after Angus & Julia Stone release their surprise fifth album, which serves as the soundtrack to the Life Is Strange video game series.
“I really like this record because it’s a real mix of the old and the new,” explained Julia Stone. “I can hear how, on this record, we weren’t afraid to try, to follow our noses and not to force any direction that it went. It didn’t matter that there was a really folky song next to a really dancy song. I can hear it feeling very free.”
DOPE LEMON’s Rose Pink Cadillac will be released on November 12th, with pre-orders available now.
