DMA’S are now on track to perform 12 socially-distanced gigs at Sydney’s Factory Theatre across July and August.

Just hours after pre-sale tickets went on sale, DMA’S have been forced to expand their forthcoming ‘Unplugged & Intimate’ tour due to overwhelming pre-sale demand.

Announced on Monday, news of these shows comes ahead of the release of The Glow, DMA’S long-awaited third studio album which had originally been scheduled to release at the end of April. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic however, the record’s new release date was pushed back to July 10th.

With the record out on Friday, DMA’S used the opportunity to announce a three-night run of shows at Sydney’s Factory Theatre, set to take place at the end of July and the start of August. However, due to massive demand during the pre-sales earlier today, the group have been forced to double the amount of shows on offer.

Presented by Frontier Touring, I OH YOU, and Secret Sounds, the group will perform two shows per night (at 6:30pm and 9pm) from Thursday, July 30th until Saturday, August 1st in a stripped-back mode, and again from Thursday, August 6th until Saturday, August 7th.

Serving as a way for DMA’S to not only return to the live stage, but also support a venue they grew up close to, these shows will feature a limited audience, will closely adhere to current social distancing regulations, and will feature a changeover period between each set during which time the venue will be cleaned.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be opening our doors for such a special series of gigs with the DMA’S,” explained Sam Nardo of Sydney’s Factory Theatre.

“This is a one-off opportunity that will no doubt be relished by fans who have waited a long time to get out there to support Aussie music and it’s simply great to be a part of it.”

Considering the fact that their last pre-COVID-19 performance was before a sold-out crowd of 5,000 at England’s O2 Academy Brixton, these forthcoming performances will be a far cry from the gigs of the past, but a welcome return for not only DMA’S, but live shows as a whole.

While pre-sales for these shows are active now, the general public on-sale date is noon AEST on Friday, July 10th. Meanwhile, the announcement of these new shows comes just one day from the release of the group’s latest single, “Criminals”. Check it out below.
