Coldplay have announced further Australian shows just one day after completing a record-breaking weekend at Perth’s Optus Stadium.

The English rockers took the crown for the biggest two-night attendance at Perth’s Optus Stadium last weekend, with over 130,000 Coldplay fans shattering Ed Sheeran’s 120,000 attendance record in March, setting a new benchmark for live performances in Australia.

It was a major boon for Perth and WA when Coldplay confirmed their only Australian shows this year would be in the state, but the rest of the country wasn’t likely to miss out for too long.

Coldplay will bring their world tour to Australia again next year, performing back-to-back shows at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium and Sydney’s Accor Stadium in October and November. They’ll also perform once at Auckland’s Eden Park in the latter month (see full dates below).

Following in the footsteps of Perth support acts Adrian Dzvuke, Thelma Plum, and Amy Shark, the band will be backed up by special guests PinkPantheress and Emmanuel Kelly in Melbourne and Sydney.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, December 1st at 10am local time. The pre-sale begins on Wednesday, November 29th at 10am local time (sign up here).

Rolling Stone AU/NZ Editor-in-Chief Poppy Reid was full of praise for the first of Coldplay’s Perth shows last weekend.

“The sky was full of stars and our eyes were filling with rising baby baths thanks to penultimate tear-jerker “Fix You”. Captain Chris did indeed transport us to another planet, and in true Coldplay fashion, it was a shared journey, a testament to the band’s ethos of inclusion and connection,” she wrote.

The band’s current world tour has been earning positive reviews elsewhere, with The Times hailing it as “the greatest live music show ever” and The Guardian calling it “genuinely stunning.”
