CHAII has announced her highly anticipated debut album, SAFAR, and teased the lead single, “We Be Killing It”.
The Persian-Kiwi multi-hyphenate artist took to social media to reveal the full details of the three-year project, including its vibrant floral artwork shot by local photographer Apela Bell. SAFAR was produced by her creative partner and husband, Frank Keys, and is set to arrive on August 16th.
“I don’t know what to say because theres so much I want to say. My debut album ‘SAFAR’ سفر is coming out 16 AUGUST!! Frank Keys and I spent the last 3 years working on this album. We’ve done so many things during that time including releasing the first 3 singles off the Album, touring the album songs, creating visuals.. I have a lot more I want to say about this album but i’ll wait until it’s out,” the post read.
“I CAN’T WAIT FOR YOU GUYS TO HEAR IT OMG FINALLY. You’re listening to the snippet of the lead single ‘We Be Killing It’.”
She also revealed the meaning of SAFAR – “journey” in Persian – and added: “If my journey had a soundtrack, it would be tracks 1-12 in that order.”

Stay tuned for the full release of “We Be Killing It”, which follows previous singles “Nights Like This”, “Fun”, “Main Thing”, and “Drippin’ In Gold”, all of which are expected to be on SAFAR.
CHAII has been busy recently, releasing a collaborative single with Tones and I and Young Franco, “(Can’t Get You) Off My Mind”. She’ll also be opening for the Australian hitmaker at her upcoming New Zealand show at Auckland’s Town Hall on Wednesday, August 28th.
Recognised by Rolling Stone AU/NZ as one of 2022’s 8 Kiwi Artists Tipped to Take Over back in 2022, we praised her fresh sound that blends genres and defies expectations.
“Rapper, producer, engineer and director, CHAII is the future of hip hop. Her 2020 Lightswitch visual EP is a masterclass that proves some artists can, in fact, do it all. CHAII returned in 2021 with Pineapple Pizza, a flavour explosion for the soul,” we wrote.
