It’s a good day to be a C.O.F.F.I.N (Children of Finland Fighting in Norway) fan.

The Australian rock band have shared a new single and video, “Sleep in It”, alongside news of their signing to King Gizzard’s label, p(doom) Records.

If that isn’t enough, C.O.F.F.I.N have also recently shared the trailer for their forthcoming documentary, 10,000 Miles From Oslo (presented by Up), and announced a run of international film premiere screenings across Australia, Europe, the UK, and North America.

New single “Sleep in It” was produced by Amyl and the Sniffers’ Declan Mehrtens, with vocals co-produced by Jason Whalley (Frenzal Rhomb).

“It’s about the consequence of a lopsided life and a longing for relationships with yourself and others to feel nourished and full. Fronting the fields you’ve failed to tend to,” the band explain.

The accompanying music video, directed and edited by vocalist/drummer Ben Ulitzka, explores the underwater world surrounding the band’s hometown of Manly (watch below).

“The original idea for the ‘Sleep in It’ video clip was to film us from a friend’s old fishing boat on one of the freestanding Wedding Cake lighthouses that sit in the middle of Sydney Harbour,” Ulitzka says.

“We jumped off our vessel onto the white structure and climbed up to its 360-degree mini-balcony. 5 minutes into filming, our friends from the ferry tipped off the water police who promptly showed up to escort us back to shore… Luckily, there wasn’t much of a punishment, but unfortunately there was even less of a video clip.”

They instead turned to Abijah (one of the guitarists in the band) and friend Will de Monchaux (who filmed), both “eager ocean divers,” to create a new clip.

“Growing up with the ocean as our playground, we sometimes forget how otherworldly that environment is,” Ulitzka adds.

“Initially, I wasn’t sure how this slo-mo marine setting connected to the track, but as I was editing, the partnership became apparent. Sleeping with the fishes, drowning, blissful escapism and disoriented weightlessness…”

C.O.F.F.I.N have previously shared stages with big-name bands such as Amyl and the Sniffers, Viagra Boys, and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard.

They received an ARIA nomination for Best Hard Rock / Heavy Metal Album in 2023 for Australia Stops.

Their new documentary documents their 20-year career journey, from their teenage beginnings to becoming an internationally recognised act.

The film, which features archival footage, interviews, unseen material, and much more, will premiere across Australia, Europe, and North America throughout July, August, and November, with screenings confirmed in Melbourne, Sydney, Berlin, New York City, London, and more cities.
