Björk will play four exclusive shows at Perth Festival next year at in a tremendous coup for Western Australia.

The Icelandic icon will perform on March 3rd, 6th, 9th and 12th, her first full Australian shows since she played Big Day Out in 2008. Her shows will take place in Perth’s Langley Park inside a specially-built 5,000 capacity tent.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Thursday, November 3rd at 12pm local time. Pre-sale begins on Thursday, October 27th at 12pm local time (sign up here).

There had reportedly been much interest from east coast venues in attracting Björk, but the artist was eager to perform in just one place in Australia. In the end, Perth Festival’s pitch that Western Australia was “one of the most biodiverse places on the planet” won her over.

“There is no greater joy than welcoming Björk to Perth. She is an adored artist at the forefront of international creative imagining, and Cornucopia is the epitome of that artistry,” Artistic Director Iain Grandage says. “Here on Noongar Boodjar in one of the ten most bio-diverse places on the planet, we welcome her explosion of visual and aural wonderment with open arms and excited expectation. We hope you can join us.”

Björk’s Cornucopia tour has been described as a “visually spectacular landscape of lush colours, futuristic screens and wild images of nature that comes alive with Björk’s wondrous music, as she performs live alongside musicians and choirs of flutes and voices.”

The production is co-directed by the singer-songwriter alongside an award-winning team of digital and theatrical collaborators.

Björk released her 10th studio album, Fossora, last month, but Cornucopia is based on her 2017 album, Utopia, which was hugely influenced by environmental issues. She’ll also perform hits from throughout her career, as well as cuts from Fossora.

The full Perth Festival 2023 program will be announced next Thursday, October 27th. More information about the festival can be found here.
