BIG FAN is celebrating its first birthday in style next month.

A welcome addition to Auckland’s live music scene, BIG FAN launched last year with performances from the likes of There’s a Tuesday, LEISURE, and Church & AP. Since opening, the venue has fostered a strong community of musicians and music fans, playing host to more than 100 shows and events fearing almost 300 artists.

BIG FAN has hosted several songwriting camps, including APRA SongHubs and APRA Ipukarea, while the venue’s BIG FAN LIVE program has broken down the traditional financial and access barriers to putting on a live show.

To celebrate the Morningside venue’s first birthday, BIG FAN will host three days of music, comedy and more in the second week of November.

On Wednesday, November 8th, the series will begin with BIG FAN’s first-ever comedy event, hosted by 7 Days and Taskmaster NZ star Dai Henwood. He’ll be joined by fellow comedians Guy Williams, Liv McKenzie, Tim Batt, and Hoani Hotene on the night.

On Friday, November 10th, Molly Payton, Judah Kelly, and Lucian Rice will perform. And after a studio open day (free and open to all) on the Saturday morning, WHO SHOT SCOTT, Fable, and CRYSTAL will close out BIG FAN’s first birthday series.

Goodnight Nurse member and Grammy Award winner Joel Little founded BIG FAN, and the musician and producer can’t wait to celebrate his venue and team.

“I couldn’t be prouder of our team and everything we’ve managed to achieve at BIG FAN in our first year, and I’m so excited to build on that success in the years to come,” he says. “I also want to say a huge thank you to everyone in the community that has supported us and helped make this first year such a special one, we couldn’t have done it without you.”
