As the wait for the forthcoming second album from Amy Shark comes to an end, the world-beating artist has offered an exclusive insight into what it’s like to be in the studio with manager, husband, and creative partner Shane Billings.

Uploaded to YouTube on Tuesday under the title “I wanted to share something with you”, the six-minute clip sees Amy and Shane discussing the content of her upcoming record, CRY FOREVER, showcasing the often intense working relationship they have.

“This is the unfiltered real behind the scenes of making an Amy Shark album (and in this case, choosing the tracks); the truly (truly) unfiltered moments,” Amy wrote in the video’s description. “The arguments, laughs, challenges, and frustrations but ultimately the incredible passion and commitment to making this absolutely perfect.”

Describing the record as an “incredible labour of love”, Amy also notes that the video was recorded in secret given that she knew the discussions that she and Shane had would be “rather entertaining” given that it was a “touchy topic”.

This insight into the behind-the-scenes process follows on from the recent release of episodes in the FOREVER, AMY SHARK docuseries which has appeared on YouTube over the past months. Touching on topics of working in the studio, writing music, and collaborating with artists, it provides an in-depth look into the process utilised by one of the country’s most beloved artists.

While Amy’s new album, CRY FOREVER, will be released on April 30th, it was also announced just last week that her forthcoming record tour for June and July will be going ahead as planned, with close mind paid to COVID-related restrictions.

Meanwhile, Amy Shark will also feature in the upcoming June edition of Rolling Stone Australia, chatting to Managing Editor Poppy Reid about her musical journey, and how she is managing to confront her past and shape a new vision for her future.
