One third of Australian alternative rock outfit OK Hotel performed a searing version of one of the tracks from their most recent EP for the latest Rolling Stone AU/NZ ‘In My Room’ session.

Formed in Wollongong, OK Hotel are vocalist Josh Fogarty, bassist Liam Jordan, and Chris Peruch on drums. Following their debut EP, Stay Bright, in 2022, the band enjoyed a bit of a breakout year in 2023, earning a strong response to their latest EP, Come and Find Me.

They also hit the road for an Australian tour last year, as well as completing a support slot for fellow Aussie rockers Luca Brasi and opening for Slowly Slowly.

Released last July, Come and Find Me has splashes of early 2000’s pop-punk and emo, making it a nostalgic ride for listeners, but the trio made it their own with original guitar lines and memorable choruses.

The EP featured “Break”, a raucous song about “breaking the pattern of giving up your own happiness for someone else’s. The perspective of holding someone to a higher esteem can warp whats in front of you and make it hard to navigate a healthy relationship. It’s a song about a relationship but it should also shine a light on the way we see ourselves, reminding us we’re all worthy of feeling happy.”

It was another standout track from that EP, “Let You Go”, that Josh from the band decided to perform their ‘In My Room’ session directly from his own bedroom.

After a relatively quiet start to 2024, things are ramping up for OK Hotel next month when they’ll be supporting Adelaide rockers West Thebarton on the latter’s Australian tour at the end of June (more tour information here).
