Olivia Rodrigo is hitting Australia soon, and Melbourne-based songwriter ISHAN has the perfect track to get you hyped.
As a huge fan, ISHAN wrote the indie-rock tune “Olivia Rodrigo” all about the love we have for our favourite artists, and he’s been performing it live.
“’Olivia Rodrigo’ is a tongue in cheek pop-rock song about wanting to find a small slice of the pop star’s magic in real life,” ISHAN explains. “It holds Olivia Rodrigo up as a quintessential, talented and much loved pop star whilst indulging the perspective of an average fan who would obviously never even meet her. They feel so understood by her music that they look to the real world for someone who has – as the song says – “10% of her charisma and charm.”
“Although it does ask questions about the connection we have with famous people, I hope fans will simply rally behind the idea that the song is a light-hearted look at fame and of course Olivia Rodrigo,”he adds . “Ultimately, I am a huge fan of hers, so it comes from a place of appreciation for her as an artist.”
Along with the release of “Olivia Rodrigo,” ISHAN announces his debut album, Who the Hell Is Klara?, coming early 2025. The album will feature singles “My Mouth (la la la)” and “Her Boyfriend’s House,” with more on the way.
ISHAN will also take his live show to Big Pineapple Festival, NYE On The Hill, and a series of headline shows across Australia before the year ends (see full tour dates here).
Rodrigo recently announced that she was bringing her world tour to Australia later this year, confirming shows in Melbourne and Sydney.
Rodrigo is touring the world in support of her second studio album, GUTS, which topped charts around the globe, including in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and US. GUTS also topped many publications 2023 year-end lists, including Billboard and People.
She’ll be joined at all Australian shows by special guest BENEE.
