‘INTROS’ Season 4: Georgia Lines Meets Bella Rafflyn

Hosted on Rolling Stone AU/NZ for the second time, ‘INTROS’ is back to introduce you to the best rising stars in New Zealand music

Bella Rafflyn

Hosted on Rolling Stone AU/NZ for the second time, INTROS is back to introduce you to the best rising stars in New Zealand music.

Georgia Lines’ popular music web series sees the Kiwi pop singer-songwriter sitting down with her favourite female and non-binary artists for a relaxed kōrero. Each episode focuses on the artist’s chosen song, delving into the story behind the song and the process of writing, before the artist treats viewers to a live performance.

Next up in season four is Bella Rafflyn, who you might recognise as the charismatic lead singer-guitarist of rising indie-pop band Coast Arcade.

But Rafflyn’s equally impressive for her solo project, which kicked off last year with her debut single, “Overdrive”, which made it to No. 4 on the Hot NZ Singles Chart. Just two weeks later, she played to a near-sold-out crowd at Auckland’s Tuning Fork for her debut headline show.

Rafflyn followed that up with her second solo single, “Corduroy Boy”, earlier this year, a confident slice of grunge-pop that wryly chastises Mac DeMarco wannabes (this millennial writer feels seen).

“The song means a lot to me, I’ve been playing it live for the past three years and every time I play it, everyone in the audience loves it, I wanted to make sure the track fully captured the vibe and energy of a live gig and I feel like that’s what it does, it sounds huge,” Rafflyn says of “Corduroy Boy”, which was co-written with Chris Mac (Six60).

In episode four of the new season of INTROS, which you can watch above, Lines and Rafflyn explore life and music in a thoughtful conversation.  The latter also performs a stunning song for the host and her viewers.

Lines released her debut album, The Rose of Jericho, to wide acclaim last year. Rolling Stone AU/NZ gave it a four-star review, and The Rose of Jericho also featured prominently in our 50 Best New Zealand Albums of 2024 list. The album is nominated for the 2025 Taite Music Prize.
