Georgia Lines and Amber Carly Williams on INTROS

L-R: Georgia Lines, Amber Carly Williams

Hosted on Rolling Stone AU/NZ for the second time, INTROS is back to introduce you to the best rising stars in New Zealand music.

Georgia Lines’ popular music web series sees the Kiwi pop singer-songwriter sitting down with her favourite female and non-binary artists for a relaxed kōrero. Each episode focuses on the artist’s chosen song, delving into the story behind the song and the process of writing, before the artist treats viewers to a live performance.

Next up in season four is Amber Carly Williams, an independent singer-songwriter based in Christchurch.

Part of that city’s impressively tight-knit music community, Carly Williams has only been officially releasing songs for a couple of years but she’s already racking up tens of thousands of streams on Spotify.

Her 2023 EP 21 Roses was followed last year by “Don’t Know Vertigo”, a sombre, swooning indie-pop ballad that contained hints of Fazerdaze’s melancholic sound.

Carly Williams has been focusing on the live music front in 2025 so far, supporting Georgia Gets By in Christchurch last week, which was followed by a special Sunday session with friends and collaborators over the weekend.

In episode two of the new season of INTROS, which you can watch above, Lines and Carly Williams explore life and music in a thoughtful conversation. The latter has high praise for Christchurch’s incredible music scene, discusses the ups and downs of choosing music as a career, ponders her definition of success, and more. She also performs a stunning song for the host and her viewers.

“Id like to introduce you to Amber Carly Williams!” Lines says. “Singer-songwriter, independent artist, storyteller, and one of THE MOST captivating performers.”

Lines released her debut album, The Rose of Jericho, to wide acclaim last year. Rolling Stone AU/NZ gave it a four-star review, and The Rose of Jericho also featured prominently in our 50 Best New Zealand Albums of 2024 list.
