Who was the last great Australian girl group? Bardot? Korean exports such as BLACKPINK and TWICE have dominated the scene over the last few years, but now a Sydney girl group are looking to make a name for themselves and go global.

Meet H3rizon: composed of Tiara, Gabby, and Bernie, the trio hail from Sydney’s western suburbs and have been steadily building their reputation through a series of positively received singles.

Their reward, announced this week, is a record deal with Epic Records USA and RZ3, and in the process H3rizon have become the first-ever Australian girl group to sign a record deal with Epic Records USA; the Filipino-Aussie outfit have also become the first-ever APAC (Asia-Pacific) girl group to sign with a major label in the US.

“As small-town girls from Western Sydney, getting signed to one of the world’s biggest labels is an absolute dream come true!! We cannot wait to enter this next phase of our career and show what we’ve been working so hard for the past five years! Especially as young Filipino Australian women, we hope that this can inspire other aspiring artists that look like us and hopefully pave the way for them to be able to case after whatever dream they hope for,” the group share.

A music video for their newest single, “You Don’t Know Nothin'”, dropped today, and you can watch it for the first time below. The clip is directed simply by Joy Simi – purposefully so – keeping the focus on Tiara, Gabby, and Bernie’s tight vocal harmonies in the sweet a cappella track. There’s something delightfully old school about the R&B flavour on show, and they sound like a trio united in a clear vision for their music. Their song isn’t trying to be too much; it’s trying to be just right.

Expect big things on the horizon for the Sydney trio in 2024 and beyond.
