Georgia Lines took to the studio where she recorded her stunning debut album for her Rolling Stone AU/NZ ‘In My Room’ session.

The Auckland pop singer-songwriter released the highly anticipated The Rose of Jericho earlier this month, just one week after she was named Best Pop Artist at the 2024 Aotearoa Music Awards.

“I’ve poured a lot of myself into the songwriting of this album,” Lines shared about her debut album. “It is honest and vulnerable, and dives into places in my own journey which I have written much of the album around.”

Accompanied by Nic Manders on piano, Lines performed a few tracks from The Rose of Jericho for her ‘In My Room’ session, direct from the studio where the album came together.

Rolling Stone AU/NZ gave The Rose of Jericho a glowing four-star review.

“Georgia Lines’ debut record sounds so raw and delicate that you immediately feel the heartache which had to be overcome to make it,” our review read.

“With songs about the dichotomy of a life well lived (“Grand Illusion”), mourning what could have been (“Not by Your Side” ft. Teeks), and all the wished-for-words left unsaid (“The Letter”), it’s any wonder she is one of the most exciting songwriters to come out of Aotearoa in recent memory.

Make no mistake, the record leans into piano-driven R&B and indie-pop, but with so much imagery and truth in each song, it sits in a room of its own. The Rose of Jerichocaptures the internal struggle we all feel at some point — that’s the magic of Georgia Lines.”

The first half of 2024 has seen Lines sit down with some of her favourite female and non-binary artists for a relaxed kōrero as part of her ‘INTROS’ series, which is being hosted on Rolling Stone AU/NZ for the first time.

The most recent episode featured Brooke Fraser, one of Aotearoa’s most beloved singer-songwriters, who’s returning to her home country for a special one-off show. It was the ideal pairing, with Lines set to support Fraser at her Spark Arena show on June 22nd.
