“Here’s the thing about magic, it won’t be silenced,” Sandra Bullock says in the trailer for Practical Magic 2. The latest sneak peak into the sequel for the Nineties cult classic is filled with magic — but that doesn’t mean the Owen sisters are always onboard, especially not Bullock’s Sally.

The trailer picks up where the initial teaser, released in April, left off and reveals the dramatic tale of the sequel, based off Alice Hoffman’s 2021 novel The Book of Magic. Directed by Susanne Bier, the film finds audiences reunited with the Owens sisters, Sally and Gillian (Nicole Kidman), once more. The two are still polar opposites; Sally is a dutiful mother who bakes beautiful cakes and avoids men while Gillian is all about finding literal Chads on Tinder. Aunt Jet (Dianne Wiest) and Aunt Frances (Stockard Channing) still offer their nuggets of wisdom. But things get complicated when the next generation of Owen sisters, Sally’s daughters, enter the fold.

“Remember when mom would tell us stories where everyone who fell in love… died?” Joey King, who plays Kylie Owens, asks her sister (Maisie Williams). The two realize those tales may just have some truth to them after Kylie’s presumed lover gets hit by a car, forcing her to go on a journey to “fix the curse.” Of course, Sally and Gillian, follow and find themselves in London, turning to new character (Lee Pace) for help.

Just like in the teaser, there are several nods to the magical world from the original film from self-spinning spoons to umbrella dives off a roof, and of course, midnight margaritas. Harry Nilsson’s “Coconut” plays in the first half of the trailer until Lana Del Rey’s “Season of the Witch” closes out it out to match the darker storyline. It’s all setting up to be one a spellbinding sequel.

Practical Magic 2 will bewitch theatres on Sept. 11.
