The biggest names in the film industry have gathered for the 98th Academy Awards, officially closing out the 2026 awards season.
The ceremony, hosted by Conan O’Brien, is airing in Australia on Channel 7 and 7Plus. If you can’t enjoy the Oscars live – don’t fret. An encore broadcast will air at 9pm on both platforms.
Some of Australia’s biggest stars are up for awards today. Rose Byrne could take home Best Actress for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, which she won the Golden Globe for last month, while Jacob Elordi has scored a Best Supporting Actor nomination for Frankenstein.
Music legend Nick Cave is up for Best Original Song – “Train Dreams” for the Netflix film which stars fellow Australian Joel Edgerton, who missed out on a Best Actor nomination. Fiona Crombie is nominated for Best Production Design for her work on Hamnet, while Guido Wolter, who worked on Sinners, is up for Best Visual Effects.
Sinners made Oscars history with a remarkable 16 nominations, while One Battle After Another came in right behind with 13. In Best Picture, the two films are up against Bugonia, F1, Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Surpreme, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value, and Train Dreams.
