Billie Eilish is on the boil.
As the “Bad Guy” singer works her way around the country for the Hit Me Hard And Soft: The Tour, her third and latest studio album returns No. 1 on the ARIA Chart.
The platinum-certified Hit Me Hard And Soft lifts 2-1, for its first time at the summit since mid-July 2024, a stretch that saw it spend five non-consecutive weeks at the top, and finish the year as the No. 2 album behind Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department.
Meanwhile, Eilish’s debut When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? holds at No. 14 on the weekly tally, and her second release, Happier Than Ever, dips 15-16.
Eilish’s arena tour, produced by Frontier Touring, is scheduled to wrap-up this Saturday, March 8th with a sold-out show at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena.
The U.S pop superstar leads an all-female top five, ahead of Tate McRae’s So Close To What (down 2-1); Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet (down 2-3); SZA’s SOS (unchanged at No. 4) and Lisa’s Alter Ego, new at No. 5, respectively.
The debut album from Lisa, a member of the record-smashing K-pop girl group Blackpink, features guest spots from Raye, Doja Cat, Future, Rosalia, Tyla and Megan Thee Stallion, and benefits from her performance at the Oscars, where she became the first K-pop artist to perform at the film industry’s big night, when she teamed up with Raye and Doja Cat for a medley of music from the James Bond film franchise.
According to ARIA, Alter Ego is the second solo album from a member of Blackpink to hit the chart in the past four months. New Zealand-born, Australia-raised Rosé’s debut album, Rosie, peaked at No. 2 in December and is at No. 45 on the current frame, published Friday, March 7. Bandmate Jennie today dropped her first album, Ruby.
Also new to the ARIA Albums Chart is Architects The Sky, The Earth & All Between, the British metalcore band’s 11th studio album. It’s new at No. 8. Architects hit No. 1 with 2021’s For Those That Wish To Exist.
Over on the ARIA Singles Chart, Rosé and Bruno Mars lock-up a 13th non-consecutive week at the zenith “APT.” That’s the longest-reigning duet since 2019, when “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus also accumulated 13 weeks at No. 1.
“APT.” leads an unchanged top 3, rounded out by Kendrick Lamar’s “Luther” and Lola Young’s “Messy”, respectively.
The top debut belongs to Sleepy Hallow, the Jamaican-American rapper whose “Anxiety” featuring Doechii starts at No. 14. “Anxiety” interpolates “Somebody That I Used to Know,” the 2011 hit by Gotye featuring Kimbra.
The latest charts represent a low-point for Australian-made music. No homegrown singles or albums impact the latest ARIA Top 50 tallies.
