Olivia Dean is playing the grand opening of the redeveloped Western Springs Bowl in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.
Announced today, the English pop star has upgraded her Aotearoa New Zealand tour show from Spark Arena to Te Wai Ōrea Western Springs Bowl, freshly reopened after a $2.5 million transformation into one of Auckland’s premier outdoor destinations for live music.
The redevelopment of the historic Western Springs Stadium was funded by venue owner-operator Tātaki Auckland Unlimited’s existing capital budget, meaning no additional cost went to ratepayers.
The redevelopment, which will be completed by October, will allow the venue to host 15,000 to 30,000 people for major shows over the summer season. The upgraded venue will also be able to host sporting events with a capacity of 5,000.
“This venue will be part of keeping Auckland ‘always on’ by creating opportunities for more regular high-profile outdoor events, while ensuring Aucklanders can continue to enjoy this important regional asset,” Tātaki Auckland Unlimited Chief Executive Nick Hill told 1News.
Dean’s upgraded show is scheduled for October 17th, in what will be a major show for both the artist and Auckland’s live music scene.
If you already have a ticket for Dean’s Spark Arena show, don’t fret: tickets will be reissued for the new venue to Ticketek NZ accounts by September 30th. If ticketholders don’t have a Ticketek NZ account, they have until August 31st to sign up.

New tickets go on sale to the general public on August 20th, with fans able to register for pre-sale access here.
Dean will be joined at all her Australia and New Zealand tour dates by Kaiit, who counts ARIA and APRA Awards to her name. Kaiit has also previously shared stages with big names like SZA and Chaka Khan.
As well as her historic Auckland show, Dean’s ANZ tour will take her to Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, with every show selling out.
