This week’s Official Aotearoa Music Charts feature plenty of new albums — but it’s more of the same on the singles front.
Following a difficult week of publicity, Ariana Grande enters the Top 40 Albums Chart with Petal, heading straight to the top spot. It means Taylor Swift and Pink are now the only female artists to have more chart-toppers, with 15 and 7 respectively.
Over on the Top 40 Singles Chart, however, Ella Langley continues to reign supreme with “Choosin’ Texas”, chalking up her 12th non-consecutive week at the summit.
In exciting news, it’s been a great week for local music on the charts.
Now entering charts worldwide with viral sensation “Freaked Out”, Fat Papi and prodshushy enjoy a third week at No. 1 on the Top 20 Aotearoa Singles Chart.
The Top 20 Aotearoa Albums Chart, meanwhile, sees an impressive eight new albums make a splash this week, including half of the entire top 10.

Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington soul artist Romi Wrights moves up to No. 1 with the stunning Andy. She’s followed by three New Zealand music veterans, Hammon Gamble, Larry Killip, and Brent Eccles, with their Street Corners #1 EP (No. 2), up-and-coming hip-hop duo Shaskey & AKL MADZ with CoDependence (No. 3), and Silver-Scroll nominated singer-songwriter HINA with Descending Dreams (No. 4).
Also new to the charts this week are reggae siblings Zentarge, exciting Ōtepoti Dunedin punk band SEEK HELP! (read all about the band here), old-school metal outfit Inebriation, and more.
There’s much less movement on the Top 10 Te Reo Māori Singles Chart, where TAWAZ and friends continue their No. 1 run with “Mānawa Maiea Matariki”.
