Love Actually, one of the festive season’s all-time films, is coming back to Australia and New Zealand theatres.
Love Actually will be shown at Riverside Theatre in Perth on Wednesday, December 9th, the Plenary in Melbourne on Friday, December 11th, the Great Hall in Brisbane on Monday, December 14th, The Civic in Auckland on Monday, December 14th, and Sydney’s Darling Harbour Theatre on Thursday, December 17th, performed in sync by a live orchestra.
‘Love Actually in Concert’ “transforms a modern Christmas classic into a shared, heartwarming, and joy-filled celebration, perfect for fans, families, and anyone who believes love, actually, is all around,” a press release states.
The film will be brought to life by the Metropolitan Orchestra (Sydney, Brisbane), Australian Stage & Screen Orchestra and Perth Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Sarah-Grace Wiliams (Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne) and Craig Dalton (Perth)
Expect to hear classics from the iconic soundtrack, including “All I Want for Christmas Is You” and “Love Is All Around”, as the entire film is projected on a cinema screen.
“’Love Actually’ has become a cherished Christmas tradition for audiences around the world and performing its beautiful score live with a full symphony orchestra creates a truly unforgettable cinematic experience,” conductor Sarah-Grace Williams says.
“Craig Armstrong’s music brings extraordinary warmth, humour and emotion to every scene, and hearing it performed live allows audiences to experience the film in an entirely new way. Released in 2003, Love Actually quickly became a modern Christmas classic, watched annually by millions of adoring fans.
The film, written and directed by Richard Curtis, follows 10 different, yet interweaving stories of love around the festive period, involving a variety of individuals, many of whom are interlinked as the plot progresses. Keira Knightley, Liam Neeson, Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Emma Thompson, and so many more iconic actors feature in its stacked ensemble cast.
Love Actually was a major contender during awards season, picking up one BAFTA Award from three nominations (Bill Nighy for Best Actor in a Supporting Role) as well as three Golden Globe nominations.
