Radio Free Alice performed a short but sweet In My Room session to celebrate their inclusion in our Future of Music series.
The exciting post-punk band were one of 25 ANZ acts included in the 2026 edition of our flagship series.
“Australia hasn’t lacked for brooding post-punk bands in the 2020s, but Radio Free Alice have still managed to carve out their own space in a crowded market,” we praised.
“Paying homage to bands of the ’80s like The Smiths and The Cure, their brand of post-punk is energetic and playful, prioritising hooks and fun over dark atmospherics. It’s a nostalgic sound which never comes off as pastiche.”
In an exclusive interview for the series, the band reflected on their journey to this point. “Probably our final London show last year. It was the final show of a really long tour. The crowd was great. There was something that felt really cathartic about that show,” they said when asked to name a career highlight.
Radio Free Alice also had a big teaser for us: “2026 will be the year our debut album comes out, which is extremely exciting for us.”

Radio Free Alice released “Kick in the Shins”, a new single, last week, “a fusion of two songs that never felt all the way complete,” according to frontman Noah Learmonth.
“We loved the verse of one of them and the chorus of the other, and it worked when we combined the two,” he explained. “We wanted to create a song you could jump around to. At its core, it explores the feeling of being confused by the culture around you, and the isolation that often comes with that confusion.”
“Kick in the Shins” closely followed last month’s “Lunch Money”, which was the Melbourne band’s debut release on Atlantic Records (out via Warner Music Australia locally).
That single arrived ahead of Radio Free Alice’s Governor’s Ball Festival appearance in New York City as well as a run of performances across Europe and the UK. They’re not done overseas just yet, with dates remaining at England’s Reading Festival, Sweden’s Way Out West Festival, and more.
