Freddie Gibbs is coming to Australia.
Gibbs has lined up shows in Adelaide, Brisbane, and Perth this October, with back-to-back appearances at the inaugural Move My Way Festival in Sydney and Melbourne also confirmed for the same month (see full dates below).
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Thursday, June 25th at 10am local time. The pre-sale begins on Wednesday, June 24th at 10am local time.
The Grammy-nominated artist has been hailed by The Guardian as a “classic rapper’s rapper.”
Gibbs combined with hip-hop producer The Alchemist on Alfredo 2, a collaborative album that dropped last year. It was a sequel to the pair’s 2020 album Alfredo, which brought Gibbs his Grammy nomination (for Best Rap Album in 2021).
Alfredo 2, which was a top 50 hit in both Australia and New Zealand, earned positive reviews from critics.

“On the followup to the pair’s 2020 collaboration, Gibbs sounds unusually animated. The album is an effective demonstration of the rapper’s formalist technique—and prickly personality,” Pitchfork wrote.
Beats Per Minute‘s review, meanwhile, thoughtfully compared Alfredo 2 and its predecessor.
“[…] I do feel more at home in the strangely oneiric first album, with its vaporous tone and melancholic ballads. But there’s an easy argument that can be made that Alfredo 2 is more thought out, diverse, colourful and also more coherent – at times seeming like a cohesive concept record that tells one long story,” the publication’s reviewer wrote.
“And that doesn’t even mention what a great summer album it is. Just as with the Godfather films, picking a favourite between the two says more about the critic than the work itself. Because, really, this album is just as vibrant, innovative and exciting as Alfredo was five years ago.”
