JessB is back.

New single “Not Today”, out today, is her first drop of 2026, and it perfectly showcases a softer, more vulnerable side to the Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland-based rapper and artist.

“‘Not Today’ is a song about being at rock bottom,” JessB reveals. “You now that you will get through the heartbreak but also you know that it’s ‘not today’, and you allow yourself to sit in the feelings of the present.”

It’s an enjoyably experimental turn for JessB, who co-produced the song with Andrew Meyer, and it “paves the way for an exciting new project,” according to a press release.

The accompanying music video, helmed by SKNX Studios, is set against the beautiful, rugged landscapes of Auckland’s west coast, the stark backdrop mirroring the isolation that can often come with heartbreak (watch below).

JessB’s most recent album, Feels Like Home, was released in 2024, and it made it all the way to No. 3 on our year-end New Zealand albums countdown.

“JessB has left a clear message on her debut album: we are bearing witness to an artist standing in her power,” we wrote in our album review. “Feels Like Home sounds global, an exportable collection ready to take JessB far from home base.”

2025 saw JessB feature on two major Rolling Stone AU/NZ lists: first we named Feels Like Home one of the 80 Best New Zealand Albums of the 2020s So Far, and then we included “Power”, her incredible collaboration with Sister Nancy and Sampa the Great (talk about star power), in our Best Australian & New Zealand Songs of the 21st So Far countdown.

We also featured JessB in our Future of Music 2025 series, chosen as one of 25 ANZ acts we expect big things from in the future.

In an exclusive interview for the series, she looked ahead to her future. “[…] I am definitely looking forward to more growth and expansion,” she told us. “Not just with the music I am creating personally, but also in building a long-lasting career in the industry.”
