Tame Impala have offered up fans some essential viewing during the current lockdown situation, unveiling a live rendition of “Patience” from their 2019 appearance at Coachella.
Recorded in April of 2019, Tame Impala’s appearance at the Californian festival was one for the history books, with the Perth outfit becoming only the second Australian band to headline the iconic event.
With lofty expectations undoubtedly following Kevin Parker and his group of loyal musicians, the group managed to serve as a highlight of the annual festival, showcasing old favourites, the then-unreleased “Borderline”, and non-album single “Patience”.
While the 2020 edition of Coachella has been postponed due to COVID-19 fears, the festival has been sharing footage and archival interviews to promote the release of their recent documentary, Coachella: 20 Years in the Desert.
Now, following unearthed performances from the likes of the White Stripes, Tame Impala are the latest group to feature.
Releasing a professionally-shot rendition of “Patience”, the live video shows Tame Impala at their powerful best, backing up Parker’s hazy yet forceful vocals with an atmospheric mix of lights and smoke, and serving as a perfect headliner for such a beloved festival.
If it all looks familiar, there’s a chance you might have been one of the lucky ones to witness the same stage show when Tame Impala headlined Splendour in the Grass in July of last year.

Of course, this isn’t the only release of Tame Impala material of late. While The Slow Rush was issued back in February, Parker recently shared a social distancing remix of the record, before his appearance on the new single from The Streets was released just this week.
Tame Impala are set to return to Australia for a run of headline dates later this year, with their original plans to tour the country in April being postponed to December.
