McCombs’ Melbourne and Castlemaine shows will be intimate occasions, while his Sydney Opera House show, as part of Vivid LIVE, is a special double bill with Cate Le Bon.
Before arriving in Australia, McCombs will stop in Aotearoa New Zealand to perform in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland’s Strange Universe series.
The Strange Universe Winter edition also features Welsh art-pop favourite Cate Le Bon, who’ll also be performing across the ditch at RISING 2026; The Veils, ready to celebrate their new album; English post-punks Dry Cleaning, who also have a new album to showcase; legendary Japanese psychedelic outfit Acid Mothers Temple; and the wonderful, mesmerising, beautiful experimental-pop band Stereolab.
There aren’t many more acclaimed modern singer-songwriters than McCombs.
“One of the greatest songwriters of his time,” the New York Times wrote of the NYC-based musician; “Arguably the greatest American singer-songwriter of this generation,” was VICE‘s assessment; “Long live Cass McCombs,” Drowned in Sound once wrote.
McCombs most recently shared Interior Like Oak, which he worked on with multi-instrumentalist/producer Chris Cohen. Listen below.
