The newest single off Lotte Gallagher’s second EP Blasé Vengeance highlights a softer side to the indie star.
Co-written with New Zealand songwriter and producer Harry Charles, who has also worked with the likes of King Princess, Sycco, and Reneé Rapp, Gallagher’s “SHOWDOWN” is a slow-burning anthem steeped in heartbreak.
“‘SHOWDOWN’ is really about when you’re at the end of the road with someone, but you still don’t want to see them fall. You’ve carried their baggage for so long that your legs are starting to give out, but you do everything in your power to keep them from feeling as miserable as you,” she shares.
“It’s not a happy song…its feeling like you have nothing else to give, but still feeling so unsure and responsible for them – everything feels so bad it almost doesn’t feel real.”
The track comes from her new EP Blasé Vengeance, which also features the previously released singles “PTRCK” and “F U IN MORSE CODE”.
Unbridled, raw and emotive, Blasé Vengeance unveils a fiercer and more confident version of the artist we first met via triple j’s Unearthed High back in 2023.
After breaking through as a finalist, Gallagher’s star rose throughout 2024 and into 2025. In October last year, she shared her debut EP A Better Feeling, an assured and addictive collection of songs that combined the effortless cool of modern indie with the nostalgic energy of the ’90s rock she was raised on.

The EP yielded the popular lead single “Adam” which has over one million streams, and follow-ups “Gray” and “This Room”, which resonated with a new wave of indie fans.
Along with her partnership with Charles, Gallagher reunited with Oscar Dawson for the new EP. She also explored other productive writing partnerships, including with Bakers Eddy frontman Ciarann Babbington.
“This past year, I’ve been writing with anyone who wants to write with me. I’ve taken every single opportunity,” she explains.
“It was fun and different to experiment with sounds and what I wanted to do; I gave myself room to do things that were strange and uncommon. I’m proud of myself for doing that, instead of staying in a bubble.”
Lotte Gallagher’s Blasé Vengeance EP is out now.
