After a landmark year in 2024 with the release of her acclaimed album Sabotage, multi-award-winning singer-songwriter Mel Parsons is kicking off 2025 with fresh momentum.

The New Zealand artist, who has been named a finalist for the prestigious Taite Music Prize, has unveiled her latest single, “Post High Slide”, along with an accompanying music video.

Fans won’t have to wait long to catch her performing the track live—Parsons is set to embark on a run of shows across Aotearoa and Australia in June.

“Post High Slide” is a masterclass in introspective songwriting, wrapped in an undeniably infectious indie folk energy. Driven by upbeat acoustic guitar and syncopated melodic hooks, the track reflects on the emotional turbulence of post-tour life—a theme deeply personal to Parsons.

“I used to get post-tour blues pretty bad,” she admits. “I’d come home and thump back down to earth after a sustained period of excitement and adventure. Touring is this daily adrenaline shot of performing live, and then suddenly you’re back to the reality of domestic life and the never-ending admin of being an indie artist.”

The single arrives with stunning visuals, captured during Parsons’ seven-date arena stint supporting Crowded House on their ‘Gravity Stairs’ tour late last year. The video offers an intimate look at life on the road—balancing the thrill of playing to thousands with the quiet comedown that follows.

“It’s that feeling of performing night after night to massive crowds, then going home with this ‘what the hell do we do now’ kind of feeling,” Parsons explains.

“Post High Slide” is out now.
