Troye Sivan was the big winner at the ARIA Awards for the second consecutive year.
Sivan won three awards at the ARIA Awards 2024, which were held at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion tonight (November 20th).
After winning Best Pop Release earlier in the night, Sivan eventually walked away with two of the biggest categories, winning Album of the Year and Best Solo Artist.
Sivan won Album of the Year for Something to Give Each Other, which debuted at No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, marking his first-ever No. 1 album in Australia.
Sivan’s album features the track “Got Me Started”, which recently earned him his first-ever Grammy nod. Sivan will find out if he’s won in the Best Dance Pop Recording at the Grammys early next year.
Sivan’s ARIAs success comes after he dominated last year’s ARIA Awards, collecting four trophies, including Song of the Year and Best Solo Artist.
Something to Give Each Other featured blockbuster hits like “Rush”, which won Song of the Year at this year’s APRA Awards, while Sivan’s album was also shortlisted for the Australian Music Prize.
In a highly positive four-and-a-half star review, we praised Sivan’s latest album for being “about discovery of self, connection and a message of embracing your true self.
“Written all over the world with longtime collaborator Leland, the record oozes with warmth and confidence; it’s an adoring love letter to read, and to give away.
“While first single ‘Rush’ fast became his biggest solo hit to date, the standout track is ‘One Of Your Girls’, a slick, brain-tickler about a chapter in Sivan’s life involving straight-identifying men. Oscar Görres’ production forms its sleek backbone, especially near its close, where an arpeggiated synth slams down beautifully in the final instrumental,” our review read.
Elsewhere at tonight’s ARIA Awards, Dom Dolla won Best Dance / Electronic Release for “Saving Up”.
Fresh from appearing at Rolling Stone House at SXSW Sydney last month, rising indie rock band Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers won the Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Artist Award, despite being up against 3%, Becca Hatch, Kita Alexander, and Sycco.
Missy Higgins was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame, and also was named Best Australian Live Act by the public.
