Pop supernova Chappell Roan may have another project in the works following her successful debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. Roan shared a clue in an Instagram post Tuesday, with a message referencing the dating reality show Love Island.
The pop star held up her debut album in the post with a caption that read, “Album kinda popped off imo but it is time to welcome a hot new bombshell into the villa,” referring to the cheeky one-liner the Love Island narrator uses to introduce new singles onto the resort property.
Although most details are under wraps, Roan’s producer Dan Nigro said that they have completed five tracks, including a “fun, up-tempo country song,” that includes a fiddle, a “couple of ballads and a mid-tempo rock song,” in a New York Times interview. “The Subway,” which she has performed along the festival circuit, is also expected on her upcoming album.
Following the 2023 release of her first album, Roan hasn’t sat still. She broke the internet dressed as the Statue of Liberty at New York’s Governors Ball in June. She reportedly broke an attendance record during her Lollapalooza set in August. Seven of her tracks broke through Bilboard’s Hot 100 list, with “Good Luck, Babe” peaking at Number Four in September. And the pop star is favored to take home the award for Best New Artist at the Grammys. Her light-speed stardom has also been a challenge for the artist, who opened up to Brittany Spanos in Rolling Stone’s October cover story about encountering a stalker, hiring security, and her celebrity support group which includes Hayley Williams, Billie Eilish, and Lorde.
Roan will head overseas in 2025 for the Barcelona music festival Primavera Sound, joining the lineup that includes Sabrina Carpenter and Charli XCX.
