9lives just can’t add enough dazzling collaborations to his discography.

Following recent link-ups with Trippie Redd, Lil Nas X, Odetari, and more comes “my way,” which finds the genre-defying artist collaborating with Rico Nasty and Kanii.

9lives was particularly impressed by Rico’s turn on the track. “Rico killed her verse and hook,” he says. “It feels to me that she’s talking about her ex, and that nothing is going to get in her way of moving on. I think that it’s empowering for anyone who’s going through something right now.”

Listen to “my way” – and watch the accompanying visual – below.

9lives’ new single arrives ahead of his prominent slot at Rolling Stone House at SXSW Sydney.

Befitting his growing global status, the Aotearoa-born artist will headline the third and final night of our SXSW Sydney event on Friday, October 18th, set to ensure Rolling Stone House goes out with a bang.

Phoebe Rings, Ayesha Madon, Emmanuel Kelly, Hockey Dad, The Grogans, Voice of Baceprot, and more will also perform at Rolling Stone House.

SXSW Sydney badge holders will have priority access to Rolling Stone House, which opens its doors from October 16th-18th, in partnership with American ApparelCholula and Vinyl.com.

If you’re keen to experience the whole event and receive priority access, consider purchasing a badge or wristband here or register your interest for the guest list here.

9lives featured in our ‘Future of Music’ series this year.

In conjunction with our global Rolling Stone partners, our editorial team compiled a list of 25 of the most exciting and innovative artists from Australia and Aotearoa, the artists we believe are destined for the very top.

“Did you know that one of the 2020’s most innovative artists hails from humble Hawke’s Bay? Pioneer of the Sigilkore sound, a subgenre that draws on trap, hyperpop, cloud rap, and electronic music, 9lives has caught the attention of US stars like Trippie Redd and Odetari,” we wrote about him.

“While the current ‘Big 3’ of rap bitterly bicker about their talent in a very public way, 9lives and the new generation of producers quietly go about their business, dropping endless streaming behemoths. 9lives — otherwise known as Max Jardine — already boasts over six million monthly listeners on Spotify, with that impressive figure growing by the week.”

9lives’ “my way” (ft. Rico Nasty & Kanii) is out now.
