Kimbra is teasing something big.
The Aotearoa-born, US-based singer-songwriter took to social media on Wednesday, June 19th to announce an intriguing new release. “I couldn’t help it. Made a new album with all of my friends,” she wrote, revealing that the record will be titled Idols & Vices, Vol. 1.
According to Kimbra’s post, the tracklist and collaborators will be revealed next week, with the first song arriving on Wednesday, June 26th. Fans can pre-add and pre-save Idols & Vices, Vol. 1 here.
An album featuring Kimbra alongside “all of my friends” is cause for celebration: she’s one of the most prolific and versatile collaborators of her generation, memorably working with Gotye, What So Not, Jacob Collier, JPEGMafia, and many more.

Kimbra released her fourth studio album, A Reckoning, in early 2023, featuring the singles “Save Me”, “Replay!”, and “Foolish Thinking”.
A Reckoning featured in Rolling Stone AU/NZ‘s Best New Zealand Albums of 2023 countdown at #14.
“Kimbra’s fourth album is a reckoning and a revelation,” we wrote. “Coming five long years after the art-pop artist’s previous album, Primal Heart, Kimbra makes up for lost time with 10 ruminative tracks that are unafraid to be experimental.
“She chases personal breakthroughs on A Reckoning, but the specificity of some of the songwriting doesn’t negate a universal listening experience, such is the insightful nature of her words.”
For last year’s NZ Music Month, Georgia Lines discussed her appreciation for Kimbra’s music.
“I saw this artist who knew what she wanted, who wasn’t afraid to push the boundaries creatively, who wanted to consistently learn and evolve.
She was someone who was absolutely incredible at what she did. She had (and still has) this incredible depth to her music that captivated me from that very first album, and I found that her melodies and lyrics deeply inspired me to create in a way that was completely true to me,” Lines told Rolling Stone AU/NZ.
