With a rapid fire opening verse and a sticky chorus that embeds in your mind quicker than Amy Shark’s vocal pace, new single “Can I Shower At Yours” is already a stand-out single from the recent Rolling Stone cover star.
Amy Shark first previewed the single on TikTok with a parody of the famous Pocketful of Sunshine scene in the film Easy A. Now, the drip-fed teasers of herself in hotel bathrooms and gyms over the last few weeks make sense after the release of the official video today.
Starring local content creators Lucinda Price, AKA Froomes, and Harry Holland as flirtatious love interests — along with a slew of dancers who are put through their paces by Amy with TikTok-ready choreography — the visual was shot in Sydney on a Google Pixel 7 Pro phone.
Written solely by Amy Shark and produced by Dann Hume, Amy says the song is about the feelings which arise in the initial stages of a relationship.
“’Can I Shower At Yours’ is about that moment in the beginning stages of meeting someone when your mind runs away from you and you let the butterflies in your stomach take over,” says Amy.
“It’s about letting your guard down, looking a little pathetic and giving in to vulnerability.”
Released this morning, the single is already receiving viral attention from industry tastemakers like Apple Music’s Zane Lowe and streaming playlists like Spotify’s New Music Friday.
Amy Shark just returned from a US tour this week and is set to support Coldplay at their sold out Australian stadium shows in Perth this November.
