US indie icons Pavement are returning to Australia for their first live shows since 2010.
One of the most influential bands of the last three decades, the five-piece will return in February and March 2023 for a six-date headline tour.
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, September 21st at 1pm local time. The Frontier Members presale begins on Monday, September 19th at 12pm local time.
Hailed by music critic Robert Christgau as “the finest rock band of the 90s,” Pavement had one of the strongest string of albums in the 1990s: Slanted And Enchanted (1992), Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain (1994), Wowee Zowee (1995), Brighten The Corners (1997) and Terror Twilight (1999)
While the band haven’t released a studio album since 1999’s Terror Twilight, Matador released an expanded issue of that record, Terror Twilight: Farewell Horizontal, in April.
It’s a good time to be catching the band live, with Pavement having recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of their seminal 1992 debut album Slanted and Enchanted.
While Down Under, Pavement will also be headlining Victoria’s new music festival Tent Pole: A Musical Jamboree. Set to take place at Geelong’s Mt Duneed Estate on Saturday, March 4th, Stephen Malkmus and co. will be accompanied by several other acclaimed bands, including Spiderbait, The Schizophonics, and CLAMM (more to be announced).
