Adore Delano is promising fans “something new, something blue, and something borrowed” when she arrives in Australia later this year to play three shows with her band.
Like most musicians, Delano spent much of the last two years stranded. But the drag queen – who rose to fame on season six of RuPaul’s Drag Race alongside Australia’s biggest drag export, Courtney Act – is ready to party.
“I’m excited to play now that the borders are open,” Delano told Rolling Stone Australia from her Hollywood home, where she has made best of the pandemic by writing songs and planning the 50-date Party Your World Tour.
“I’ve so missed playing live, it’s what fuels my happiness.
“I’ve done a few shows here and there, and a mini-tour in the UK in August – but nothing on this level. I’m excited to bring it to the world and bring the songs to life with live instruments, a band, and bring the vibes, you know?”
The Drag Race favourite, which New York Magazine placed sixth on its 2019 list of the most powerful queens in America, revealed to Rolling Stone Australia that she has only one reservation about heading down under.
“I have to be careful, because I’ve fallen in love every time I’ve visited Australia, but I love it. I mean, I’ve had such fun times and memories with Courtney Act. I’ve met so many cool queens, and made so many cool friends.”
Delano, who has recorded and released four studio albums – including the most recent, Dirty Laundry, in 2021 – will begin the Australian leg of her tour in Melbourne on November 10th, before heading to Brisbane and Sydney.
