The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia has once again shone a light on the talent of Kylie Minogue, launching an online-only exhibition of the iconic artist’s life, career, and work.
Dubbed ❤ Kylie: A Celebration, the online tribute is the second time that the NFSA has acknowledged Minogue’s success, with her debut international single, “I Should Be So Lucky”, inducted into their Sounds of Australia registry in 2011.
This new online experience, launched today, features rare content sourced from the NFSA’s vast audiovisual collection, and featuring interviews, performances, and more from her career, which spans across four decades.
An interactive journey through her life and career, the tribute also looks at her beginnings as a bourgeoning child star through to her status as an ARIA Hall of Fame inductee, while focusing on her commanding presence on the live stages, her appearances on screen, duets, discography, all telling the story that leads to her acknowledgement as a global phenomenon.
This isn’t the first time that the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia have launched an online exhibition such as this. In fact, this tribute to Kylie Minogue marks the NFSA’s 14th such celebration of Australian music, with the likes of Jimmy Barnes and Archie Roach previously receiving such an honour.
The launch of this exhibition also comes two weeks after Rolling Stone announced a special edition of their upcoming magazine, focusing on the 50 Greatest Australian Artists of All Time. Set to go on sale in early December, the magazine’s cover feature includes a number of the artists featured in the issue, including the likes of Kylie Minogue.
