Parkway Drive have announced a new live album, capturing their landmark performance at the Sydney Opera House last year.
Home – Live at the Sydney Opera House will arrive on December 4th via Parkway Records/Civilians, with the band sharing their orchestral rendition of “Prey” as the first taste of the record.
The 20-track album serves as the soundtrack to the forthcoming concert film Parkway Drive: Home, which documents the Australian metal heavyweights’ sold-out, black-tie Opera House show.
Held in front of just 2,000 fans, the performance saw Parkway Drive swap their usual arena-sized production for a full symphony orchestra and a number of special guests. The setlist spanned the band’s career, including “Carrion”, “Wild Eyes”, “Crushed”, “Darker Still”, “The Void” and “Home Is for the Heartless”.
The album will feature Nooky, who appeared on “Shadow Boxing”, as well as former Tonight Alive frontwoman Jenna McDougall on “A Deathless Song”. The record will also open with a Welcome to Country featuring Matthew Doyle.
Parkway Drive: Home, meanwhile, chronicles the Byron Bay band’s rise from Australian metal underdogs to one of the country’s biggest heavy music exports. As Rolling Stone AU/NZ previously reported, the film also captures frontman Winston McCall rappelling 65 metres from a helicopter onto the sails of the Sydney Opera House, landing on a platform just 60 centimetres wide.
Directed by Allan Hardy, who previously worked with the band on Viva the Underdogs, alongside Bra Boys filmmaker Macario De Souza, Parkway Drive: Home is produced by Hype Republic and distributed by Mushroom Studios. The film will have its world premiere at Sydney’s State Theatre on November 10th, followed by a release in select Australian cinemas from November 12th.
