Empire of the Sun will embark on their biggest-ever tour of Australia and New Zealand in 2027.
Announced today, the Australian heavyweights will kick off the Ask That God: Afterlife tour in Auckland next February, before moving on to perform in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
The Sydney-formed band last toured our shores in 2024 in support of their latest record, Ask That God, which they also took globally.
“Ask That God: Afterlife feels like a tour of unknowns and possibilities — new visions, new plateaus, fragile breakthroughs. I think things are going to happen on this tour that have
never happened before,” Luke Steele said.
“We can’t wait to take this music and this tour to new frontiers. Let’s break barriers together.”
During that run, Rolling Stone AU/NZ reported that Empire of the Sun became the first Australian act to sell out three headline shows at London’s famous Alexandra Palace.
It’s possible that the upcoming shows will also feature new music. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone AU/NZ, Nick Littlemore said Empire are aiming to release a brand new album “within the next year.”

“We pretty much have all the songs now… I have high hopes for it now,” he said.
“We kind of went straight in after making the film in Thailand and started making new things. It feels really exciting. Luke’s [Steele] never sung better. I think all this touring has made his voice so strong, super focused. We’re both sober, which is interesting…”
