Netflix unveiled the opening six minutes of Wednesday’s Season 2 during its Tudum event Saturday, and revealed Lady Gaga’s role on the much-anticipated second season.
The clip lays down the foundation for Season 2, with Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams on the hunt for (and the prisoner of) a notorious serial killer dubbed the Kansas City Scalper, played by Haley Joel Osment:
The first half of Wednesday’s second season premieres on the streaming service on August 6.
“I think the most fun about this was asking, ‘What would Wednesday do during her summer vacation?’” Wednesday co-creator and showrunner Alfred Gough told Tudum.
Not featured in the opening six minutes: Lady Gaga, whose casting in the series — while widely already known — was officially confirmed at the Tudum event. However, Gaga’s “mysterious and enigmatic” character Rosaline Rotwood — “a legendary Nevermore teacher who crosses paths with Wednesday,” Netflix said — won’t appear until the second half of Season 2 premieres on September 3.
While Little Monsters and Wednesday fans will have to wait an additional month for Gaga’s appearance, the singer was on hand at the Tudum event Saturday, and closed out the evening’s worth of trailers and first looks with a performance of “Zombieboy” and “Abracadabra,” both incorporating elements of the classic Addams Family theme.
