Untamed has secured a second season at Netflix following its impressive debut performance.

The drama series, originally conceived as a limited series, earned renewal after achieving strong ratings and critical acclaim since its July 17th premiere, reports Variety.

Set within the dramatic landscape of Yosemite National Park, Untamed follows National Parks Service special agent Kyle Turner, portrayed by Australian star Eric Bana, who leads an investigation into a suspected murder in the park.

The series demonstrated commercial success, debuting at number one on Netflix’s global Top 10 English language shows chart for the week of 14th-20th July. Within days of its premiere, Untamed accumulated 24.6 million views, significantly outperforming its closest competitor, Amy Bradley is Missing, which garnered 12.2 million views.

Bana expressed enthusiasm about the renewal, stating: “I am absolutely thrilled that we get the chance to bring another season of Untamed to life. The response to season 1 has been a testament to the incredible effort by our crew to deliver something truly unique. I can’t wait to take Kyle on his next journey.”

The first season’s supporting cast included performances from New Zealand icon Sam Neill, as well as Rosemarie DeWitt, Lily Santiago, Wilson Bethel, Raoul Max Trujillo, William Smillie, Joe Holt, and Josh Randall.

Showrunners Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith lead the creative team, serving as executive producers alongside Bana. The production involves collaboration between John Wells Productions, with John Wells and Erin Jontow producing, Escape Artists Entertainment with Todd Black and Tony Shaw, Bee Holder Productions through Steve Lee Jones, and Syndicate Entertainment via Cliff Roberts. Warner Bros. Television serves as the studio behind the project.
