The Australian Broadcasting Corporation is set to use the current period of isolation to get kids hooked on local music, with a brand new program hitting the airwaves later today.

Titled ME@Home, the 10-minute program is set to premiere at 3pm on ABC ME, and will be hosted by Grace Koh from Monday to Thursday in an attempt to entertain youngsters locked down in isolation.

“What is happening in the world is completely unprecedented for us all, especially tweens and teenagers. Commercial channels and social media feeds are completely clogged with news updates – which all in all can be totally overwhelming,” producers said in a statement to TV Tonight.

“We’re starting to see a lot of young people take on the anxiety of their families, communities, and government. ME@Home will be a place for our audience to come together and have a well-earned laugh at some serious silliness.”

According to a description of the program, big-name artists such as G Flip, Rolling Stone cover artist Tones And I, and Samantha Jade are set to appear, as will comedians and television hosts Rove McManus and Julia Zemiro.

“Fan favourite Grace Koh hosts the daily whip around the country from her house in isolation. She’ll check in with different ‘Housemates’ reporting from their state / town / loungeroom with hilarious, entertaining segments on how to bust iso-boredom,” the description states.

“Think recipes from the back of the pantry, Tik Tok dance lessons, trick shots, and DIY fancy dress from stuff lying around in the garage.

“On top of the amazing young people contributing, there are special guest ‘Housemates’ in the form of well-known superstars. Rove McManus is bringing viewers crazy cartoon ideas to life, Samantha Jade has a boredom buster, GFlip and Tones and I check in, and Julia Zemiro has fast-paced French lessons!”

At this stage, it’s not clear what sort of musical appearances the likes of Tones And I and G Flip will have, we can only assume the latter will perform what would be a fitting rendition of “Bring Me Home” at some point.

ME@Home premieres at 3pm on Monday, April 20th, and is available on ABC ME, YouTube, iView, and can be seen on the ABC ME app.
