Disney+ is sending The Artful Dodger out with one last adventure, renewing the Australian series for a third and final season.
Thomas Brodie-Sangster will return as surgeon and former pickpocket Jack Dawkins, alongside David Thewlis as Norbert Fagin and Maia Mitchell as Lady Belle Fox.
The final season will stream on Disney+ internationally and Hulu in the US, with production expected to begin in Sydney in the coming months.
The renewal follows the release of the show’s second season and what Disney describes as strong local and international viewership.
Season 2 is also nominated for best scripted comedy program at the 2026 TV Week Logie Awards.
Set in 1850s Australia, the series reimagines Charles Dickens’ famous Oliver Twist pickpocket Jack Dawkins as a respected surgeon whose criminal past returns to complicate his new life.
The third season is expected to expand the scale of the show’s heists and action while continuing its mix of comedy, adventure and romance.

Kylie Watson-Wheeler, senior vice president and managing director of The Walt Disney Company Australia and New Zealand, said the final season would take audiences “even further into the world of The Artful Dodger.”
“Fans can expect even more twists and turns in this third and final instalment,” Watson-Wheeler said. “The renewal is a testament to the quality of this show and everyone involved in making it.”
Jo Porter, managing director of Curio Pictures and an executive producer on the series, said the creative team was planning a more ambitious final season.
“We love that audiences have embraced the show’s unique blend of adventure, humour and romance,” Porter said. “We are planning for this season to be even more ambitious, surprising and unpredictable.”
Sony Pictures Television’s Curio Pictures will return to produce the series. Porter and Rachel Gardner will serve as executive producers and producers, with Chris Martin-Jones returning as series producer.
Ben Young (The Twelve, Clickbait) and Ben C. Lucas (The Survivors, High Country) will return to direct.
BAFTA-nominated writer Andrew Knight (Hacksaw Ridge, Jack Irish, Rake) will lead the scripting team as an executive producer, alongside script producer Dan Knight (Irreverent), who has written across all three seasons. Andrew Knight previously served as co-script lead and co-executive producer on the first season.
The Artful Dodger was co-created by James McNamara, David Maher and David Taylor.
The first two seasons are currently streaming on Disney+ globally and Hulu in the US.
