Saturday Night Live‘s Weekend Update celebrated Kristi Noem‘s firing as Homeland Security secretary.
Co-anchor Colin Jost listed several of the controversies that drew negative attention to the department and the Trump administration.
“Name one to the twenty things she did wrong,” he joked. “Was it calling the innocent guy they shot a domestic terrorist? Was it spending $220 million of taxpayer money on an ad campaign where she dressed up like Jesse from Toy Story?”
Noem was shown on horseback in the DHS ad campaign.
“She’s so happy riding the horse in this,” Jost said. “I bet his name is Corey Lewandowski.”
Lewandowski, Noem’s aide at DHS and her rumoured lover, also is no longer at the department.

Jost added that he felt bad for Noem, in a way.
“Imagine being singled out as the worst member of Trump’s cabinet. That’s like someone coming up to you at a party and saying, ‘We think you should leave. You’re making Diddy uncomfortable,’” he joked.
Michael Che then addressed Noem’s new role that Trump gave her: Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas. That, he joked, “is a brand-new department located on a farm upstate.”
Weeknd Update also addressed the week-old war in Iran.
“President Trump said that he should be involved in choosing Iran’s next supreme leader. So, congrats to new supreme leader Ayatollah Jared Kushnari,” Che joked of the president’s son-in-law and Middle East negotiator.
Che was also critical of the CIA’s reported arming of anti-regime militias in Iran to help topple it.
“Hey, worked great for Afghanistan,” he said, as a photo of Osama bin Laden showed on screen.
