Saturday Night Live‘s Weekend Update trashed Donald Trump‘s acceptance of the Nobel Peace Prize medal that he didn’t win, as well as his foreign policy that doesn’t align with “America First.”
Trump this week was given the medal by Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Machado, who reportedly has been angling for Trump’s support to be successor to President Nicolas Maduro following his capture by U.S. forces. Trump, who keeps claiming he has ended eight wars, had lobbied heavily for the award, but had to settle for the “FIFA Peace Prize,” which his pal, Gianni Infantino, hurriedly created after Trump lost out to Machado.
“What kind of psycho would actually accept someone else’s Nobel Peace Prize? She just won it,” co-anchor Michael Che said. “It’s like if someone says help yourself to anything in the kitchen and you bang his wife.”

As it turns out, one person who did accept another’s medal was Nazi minister of propaganda Joseph Goebbels.

Che then referenced Machado’s apparent motivation for gifting the medal. “If that bribe actually worked, I bet Trump’s about to get a whole bunch of Grammys,” he joked as a photo of imprisoned music mogul Diddy showed on screen.
Also in the segment, Colin Jost took Trump to task over his foreign policy, like the capture of Maduro in Caracas, with the country’s oil reserves being a motivating factor. Trump has also threatened to invade Greenland, and reportedly has been considering military action in Iran.
“He promised us ‘America First,’ yet it’s only our one-year anniversary and he’s already opening up our relationship to other countries,” Jost joked. “This week, Trump declared himself the ‘acting president of Venezuela.’ By next week he’ll be the ‘interim Ayatollah of Iran’, and then onto his ultimate goal: ‘head reindeer of Greenland.’”
“In fact,” Jost continued, “a congressman has introduced a bill to make Greenland the 51st state. Meanwhile, Puerto Rico’s like, ‘Wow, okay?!’”
