Following last night’s Season Two finale, Apple TV+ has confirmed — unsurprisingly — that Severance will return for a third season.

The news was announced Friday morning, March 21, after Ben Stiller, the show’s director and executive producer, tweeted at Apple CEO Tim Cook: “So some fans are asking for Season 3 of Severance. What do you say, @tim_cook?”

Cook replied with a short, 20-second teaser and the message, “Season 3 of Severance is available upon request.”

Exact details about Severance Season Three weren’t immediately available, such as when the show might expect to go back into production, and when it might air. While the official Season Three pick up was only announced today, Stiller told The Hollywood Reporter last month that the Severance writers were already at work on new episodes. That should hopefully mean it won’t take three years for the show to return, like it did between Seasons One and Two.

“Making Severance has been one of the most creatively exciting experiences I’ve ever been a part of,” Stiller said in a statement. “While I have no memory of this, I’m told making Season Three will be equally enjoyable, though any recollection of these future events will be forever and irrevocably wiped from my memory as well.”

Star Adam Scott added, “I couldn’t be more excited to get back to work with Ben, [creator] Dan [Erickson], the incredible cast and crew, Apple and the whole Severance team. Oh hey also – not a huge deal – but if you see my innie, please don’t mention any of this to him. Thanks.”

As for what Season Three might have in store for the innies at Lemon Industry, Erickson recently spoke with Rolling Stone about the creative teams desire “blow up the formula at the end of each season” and see if they can bring it back.

“I don’t want to speak too much about what Season Three would look like,” he continued. “But I will say that we wanted to do something that blew up the world even more than in the first season. It’s a really valid question that people will be asking: ‘Can the show continue in the format that we’ve been seeing, or is it going to need to transform into something else?’”
